WHO WE ARE

At Values Added, we’re passionate about helping progressives build financial lives they feel good about. We do it by supporting them in leveraging their wealth to make an impact and live a joyful life.

At the heart of our approach is tax-efficient planning, a fusion of impactful charitable giving and sustainable practices. Ensuring our clients' values are reflected in their portfolios is just the beginning. Beyond that, our financial planning services are tailored to transform our clients' aspirations into the lives they've always imagined.

We take a team approach to serving our clients and believe bringing together different backgrounds, experiences, and thinking leads to superior results. That’s why we strongly encourage women, people of color, those with LGBTQ+ identities, and all members of historically disadvantaged groups to apply.

WHY YOU’D BE A GREAT FIT

Are you a CFP®  financial advisor who enjoys leading client relationships but still seeks ongoing learning and a collaborative team environment? Join Values Added, where you’ll become a key player in a collegial advisory team! You’ll manage client relationships with the help of an associate financial advisor and dive into complex cases alongside a managing partner.

In this role, you’ll guide clients through insightful planning analyses, deliver impactful recommendations, and help them achieve their financial dreams. This is your chance to advance your expertise, deliver exceptional financial planning, and shine in a role that balances independence with team collaboration.

We’re looking for a proactive, process-oriented professional who’s organized, able to juggle multiple priorities, and responds to clients in a consistently timely manner. High client service standards are a must. Bringing your own clients isn’t necessary—you’ll be engaged with both new and existing clients of the firm. Additionally, business development and people management are not part of the role, though we do offer career tracks for those who excel at or want to grow in those areas.

Client Management

  • Act as lead planner on new relationships, overseeing onboarding to the delivery of the annual service calendar and ongoing review meetings
  • Act as a support advisor for clients who work with other Values Added advisors, continuing to support all aspects of the planning process as they transition to seeing you as their primary advisor
  • Collaborate with your advisory team to provide support to all team clients, stepping in as needed to lead meetings, act as a subject matter expert, answer client questions, and provide overall back-up
  • Discuss client values with them and understand common progressive concerns well enough to be meaningfully conversant and suggest financial planning and investment approaches that are responsive
  • Oversee the development of the plan and delivery of client services
  • Lead (or learn to lead) meetings with prospective clients to help them learn about our work and mutually assess the fit
  • Communicate and delegate onboarding and ongoing maintenance work to the operations team or associate advisor as appropriate

Financial Planning & Advisory

  • Review and clarify the needs, goals, and financial objectives of clients and develop their financial plan
  • Build and deliver comprehensive planning as well as tax and investment presentations and recommendations that align with the personal and social impact financial goals and objectives of clients
  • Monitor the client’s financial situation and plan proactively to identify areas that need to be updated and addressed, then coordinate and/or complete delivery of those services based on the client's need
  • Prepare investment recommendations based on a client’s risk tolerance, current financial situation and holdings, financial and social impact goals, and time horizon and in line with firm philosophies and models
  • Address all planning and investment-related advisory inquiries from clients and/or delegate less complex or operational inquiries to associates or client service team
  • Keep clients apprised of portfolio status and progress
  • Develop and maintain good relationships with clients’ other professional advisors (i.e., accountants, lawyers, etc.)
  • Adhere to all compliance/risk procedures, follow firm policies and regulations, and protect the interests of the client and the firm at all times
  • Handle more complex client issues, planning advice, and analysis with limited supervision
  • Develop and act as a lead subject matter expert in a specific area of investments or financial planning

Firm & Team Support

  • Clients with management experience in the industry will be considered for accelerated promotion to a financial advising lead team lead position
  • Where needed, provide supervision of operational tasks, support Associate advisor training, and supervise and delegate to others where appropriate
  • Lead and/or support advisory-related strategic initiatives and projects to improve financial planning and investment processes, deliverables and workflows
  • Provide guidance and peer-to-peer training across the team
  • Lead specific projects, working groups or internal committees

Other Possible Duties

We encourage you to spend a reasonable portion of time exploring interests and growth beyond your primary role. This means that from time to time, you may be asked to support or lead a special project. If you have experience in a financial planning specialty (i.e. equity comp, solidarity economy, social impact investments, advanced tax planning for business owners, etc.) let us know—though this is not needed to apply.
